Come experience beautiful Ubud, Bali, Indonesia with us!

Oct 2-6, 2019!

About Ubud

Ubud – the cultural and spiritual heart of Bali – contains one of the world’s most actively practiced ancient living cultures, woven deep into the essence of the people’s daily lives. This is reflected beautifully in Balinese art, architecture, food, and the strength of its spiritual traditions – a Balinese form of Hinduism – unique in the Muslim archipelago of Indonesia.

In the local language, Ubud means “medicine”, and attracts people from around the world for healing and transformation. It is a focal point for yoga, meditation, qigong, breathwork, and other healthful ways of living. A culinary paradise, with international cuisines and a focus on healthy and organic food, Bali is also the raw vegan capital of the world.

With a progressive entrepreneurial community, focusing on everything from environmental sustainability to cryptocurrency, along with a myriad of alternative education options, Ubud has become a strong hub for worldschoolers, and a perfect setting for our 2019 Family Adventure Summit.

Around Ubud

Being in Ubud is a full sensory experience. With incense and plumeria flowers wafting through the air, the sound of gamelan and chanting in the distance, and intricate stonework and wood carvings capturing your sight at every turn, it’s like stepping into another world.

If you choose to stay longer before or after the conference, there is plenty to do in and around Ubud. Beautiful temples, waterfalls, beaches, and rice fields dot the island. The famous Tegallalang Rice Terraces are just 20 minutes from the town center. The nearest beach is a 30-minute drive away. Taking a sunrise walk on the Campuhan ridge, visiting the sacred monkey forest, learning how to make batik fabric, experiencing a Hindu ritual at the water temple, taking a cooking class, or going white water rafting on the Agung river are just a few of the activities you can do.

Weather is great all year round and during the event, you can expect a daily low temperature of 20c (70f) and a daily high of 28c (83f).

Getting There

The airport in Bali is in Denpasar (DPS) and is approximately 1.5 hours from Ubud by car. Taxi services from the airport to Ubud usually cost around 400,000 Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) or roughly $26 USD for a car.

It is also possible to rent a car and drive yourself, although this is not recommended unless you’ve driven in this part of the world before, due to the number of motorbikes on the road.

Once you are at Arma Resort, you can walk to the monkey forest in about 15 minutes, take a taxi, or rent a motorbike to get around yourself.

ARMA Museum and Resort

The 2019 Family Adventure Summit will be held at the beautiful ARMA Museum and Resort in Ubud.

ARMA is one of the largest and most lovely hotels Ubud, with a focus on harmony with nature, and support for the arts and Balinese culture. The grounds are filled with trees, gardens, rivers, bridges, rice terraces, and several swimming pools. We’ll be in our own piece of paradise for the event! Some of our meeting space will even be “Balinese style”, without walls and more connected to nature.

The resort itself has several restaurants, including one specializing in Thai food, and there are dozens of delicious and affordable restaurants and shops within walking distance to suit every taste and budget.

Please note that the Arma Resort is not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs between the meeting spaces. However, the two main meeting spaces are accessible from the parking lot. If you have mobility issues, please contact us and we will do our best to find solutions for you.
