Rebecca Bernard was born in San Jose, Costa Rica and raised in Los Angeles, California. As a product of a multicultural family, she has always had an affinity for cultural exploration. Her mission is to cultivate projects that inspire global change and instill a sense of universal curiosity, respect and appreciation for our basic humanity while celebrating our differences.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA in World Arts and Cultures with a minor in French. She is a true lover of languages and speaks Spanish fluently as well as French and Italian conversationally. In 2012, Rebecca obtained her Master’s Degree in Communication Management from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. Her specializations include global, cross-cultural and digital communication in the parenting, education and travel space, as well as languages and all things arts and culture.
Rebecca is extremely passionate about global themes in business and education and has straddled the line between the two industries for her entire career. Her previous experience includes business development and marketing positions in both the for-profit and non-profit space. Rebecca has worked for some of the world’s foremost Globalization firms as well as the local Children’s Museum. She was responsible for generating new business and cultivating account relationships with major players in the international technology and telecommunications space like Kodak, Qualcomm, Disney, EA Games and more. She also has over 25 years worth of experience working with infants up to college students in various capacities, as a school founder, teacher, music and movement instructor, babysitter and tutor.
Rebecca is presently the Co-Founder and Enrichment Director of World City Center, a dual-language early education center based in Los Angeles California. She provides executive oversight for the general organization and develops cutting edge educational programs for ages 2 – 12 years of age through their enrichment offering. Rebeca is also the visionary behind a new travel agency called FamilyGo.Global which offers family-friendly travel to Spanish speaking destinations around the world.In addition to founding World City Center and FamilyGo.Global, Rebecca is a Founding Parent of City Language Immersion Charter (CLIC), a dual-language elementary school in West Adams which offers a free bilingual education to children in South LA.
Rebecca was formerly the author of the TheCulturedSeed.com, a blog where she shared her early parenting experiences and empowered other parents to raise the future generations to be global citizens. She currently blogs at Beccatica.com on all things motherhood, education, politics, LA, travel, and more. She calls both Costa Rica and Los Angeles her home and revels in crafting a life of adventure alongside her two kids and multitude of family and friends.
