About San Miguel de Allende
Voted as the Best City in the World by Travel + Leisure Magazine and a UNESCO world heritage site since 2008, San Miguel de Allende is a colorful, cultural, charming, and creative town in Central Mexico.
With important festivals like Day of the Dead (which happens around our Conference), a thriving arts and music scene, delicious food, and a unique blend of history and culture, this popular destination will be an epic setting for our 2018 Family Adventure Summit.
Around San Miguel
The city of San Miguel is charming and safe! You’ll walk through colorful streets full of flowering trees and unique architecture, often to the sound of mariachi bands playing while giant mojiganga dance to the music.
In 2018, the Family Adventure Summit will be held around Day of the Dead, one of the most important holidays in Mexico! We’ll plan time into the conference to fully enjoy and appreciate these festivities.
If you choose to stay for more than the conference, there is plenty to do in and around San Miguel. Swim or soak in one of the nearby hot springs or warm water park. Visit the Botanic Gardens or the ancient ruins at Cañada de la Virgen. Go horseback riding, take a hot air balloon ride, or just stay and enjoy the amazing and affordable food, educational classes, and get to know the growing family travel community choosing to make it their home base!
There are three airports that service San Miguel de Allende.
- Queretaro (QRO) – 1 hour from San Miguel
- León (BJX) – 1.5 hours from San Miguel
- Mexico City (MEX) – 3.5 hours from San Miguel
There are several bus and shuttle options from each of these airports.
You could also rent a car. However, once inside San Miguel, a car is generally not needed as the town is very walkable, and taxis and Ubers are very cheap (around $2 USD to get anywhere around town).
